First flights are a wonderful combination of both nerves and pure ecstasy. In order for your first flight to be as safe and enjoyable as possible the wingsuit community has established some pre-flight requirements and recommendations.
Requirements -
200 Jumps in the last 18 months
or 500 Jumps total
Recommendations -
Docile Main Canopy
AAD
Audible Altimeter
These are put in place too help ensure you are adequately prepared for the issues associated with adding a wingsuit to your jump routine starting with gearing up, all the way to landing.
Remember if you don't quite fulfill the requirements, wingsuiting will be there when you do. There are ways you can prepare so when you do make that first flight you will rock it right out the door.
In addition to this, while it is not required by the USPA to receive first flight training from a manufacturer rated instructor it is highly suggested. If you are located at a dropzone where one is not available please attempt to seek one out or an experienced wingsuit flyer with at least some instructional background. You probably will not realize the importance of this until after your first flight.
